The agricultural industry has been called to action to ensure the safe storage and handling of fertilizer products. ResponsibleAg is an industry-led initiative designed to protect employees, first responders and the general public through an organized program of periodic audits.
ResponsibleAg-credentialed auditors are at the heart of the initiative. They ensure consistent, accurate, and credible audits.
This training course meets the competency-based training requirements required for those who want to perform ResponsibleAg facility audits. This one of a kind course is a combination of classroom lectures, computer lab, role-play scenarios, problem-solving sessions and hands-on exercises. Students will participate in several simulations designed to apply and test the information presented during the week. Seating will be assigned for this course. Participants successfully completing this course will receive credentials provided the following criteria are met:
This course is the basic training for the ResponsibleAg credential. Participants who wish to become ResponsibleAg auditors must first complete this course and apply with ResponsibleAg to become a credentialed auditor. The ResponsibleAg Auditor Training Course has received recognition from the Board of Environmental, Health and Safety Auditor Certifications (BEAC). The course is designed specifically for auditors who intend to perform facility assessments under the ResponsibleAg Certification Program. BEAC’s recognition of the course is based on a comprehensive evaluation of course content, training materials, course environment and instructor qualifications. The ResponsibleAg Auditor Training Course joins other training programs recognized by BEAC such as the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care®, SOCMA’s ChemStewards and The Auditing Roundtable courses.
Minimum Qualifications
It is important to note the objective of this course is to provide instruction on the ResponsibleAg auditing process. Minimum qualifications have been established to ensure the experience, knowledge base and objectives of those attending this course are as uniform as possible. Persons wishing to enroll in this class will be asked to certify they meet each of the following minimum qualifications when registering for the course.
Third-party auditors work as independent contractors through an agreement with ResponsibleAg to conduct audits for those companies with agricultural facilities who registered and participate in the program. Third-party auditors are subject to ResponsibleAg protocols for training, credentialing audit procedures and Quality Assurance verification. Upon passing the ResponsibleAg Auditor Training Course, individuals wishing to be credentialed to conduct audits under the third-party basis must apply with ResponsibleAg and be accepted.
Companies with agricultural facilities registered with ResponsibleAg may elect to utilize their own internal staff, provided they are eligible to be qualified, to conduct audits according to ResponsibleAg protocols. Internal auditors are subject to the same training, credentialing audit procedures and Quality Assurance verification as third-party auditors. Upon passing the ResponsibleAg Auditor Training Course, individuals wishing to be credentialed to conduct audits must apply with ResponsibleAg and be accepted.

Please note: Participants cannot be excused early from the course, especially on the last day, so exercise caution when making airline or other travel arrangements.
Once confirmed, each participant will be sent a packet of detailed information regarding preparation, dress, lodging, meals, travel arrangements, local entertainment, etc.
Registration for the ResponsibleAg course is $2,150.00 per participant. This includes 4 days of training, course materials, exercises, handouts and lunch on Tuesday through Thursday.
Please use this calendar to enroll in the course of your choice. Classes are limited to 24 participants and reservations are on a first-come first-serve basis. Cancellations within 30 days are non-refundable, but substitutions are allowed provided the substitute is eligible and meets the minimum qualifications. ResponsibleAg reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient enrollment and is not responsible for losses from such cancellations.
